The American Board of Dermatology (ABD) has named Christine J. Ko, MD, President of the Board of Directors, beginning July 1. Allison T. Vidimos, MD, will serve as Vice President.
The new officers were announced at the June ABD Board of Directors meeting. They will serve through June 30, 2027.
Andrea Murina, MD, and Erin Mathes, MD, will begin the first of three 3-year terms on the Board as of July 1, having completed a year as directors-elect.
The Board also chose two new directors-elect: Nathalie Zeitouni, MD, and Kiran Motaparthi, MD, will be non-voting members for one year before beginning their terms in 2027.
Dr. Ko is a Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at Yale School of Medicine. She is certified in General Dermatology and Dermatopathology.
Dr. Ko served on the ABD’s Dermatopathology Item Writing Committee from 2011 to 2016. She was elected to the Board of Directors for a term starting in 2018.
Dr. Vidimos is chair of the Cleveland Clinic’s Department of Dermatology and vice chair of the Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Institute. She is a staff physician in the department’s Micrographic Surgery and Oncology section and a Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University. She is also program director of the Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship.
Certified in General Dermatology and in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery, she served on the Surgical Dermatology Item Writing Committee from 2012–2014 and was elected to the Board of Directors for a term starting in 2018.
Dr. Murina is an Associate Professor of Dermatology and Program Director at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She directs the dermatology clinics at the University Medical Center in New Orleans. Certified in General Dermatology, she began her volunteer service to the ABD in 2016, serving on the inaugural Focused Practice Improvement Workgroup, and continued in 2020 as an Item Writer for the General Dermatology Item Writing Committee.
Dr. Mathes is a pediatric dermatologist in San Francisco, CA. She is affiliated with Stanford Hospital and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. ABD-certified in General Dermatology and Pediatric Dermatology, she began her volunteer service to the ABD in 2016, serving on the inaugural Focused Practice Improvement Workgroup, and continued in 2020 as an Item Writer and Exam Development Council member for the Pediatric Dermatology Item Writing Committee.
Dr. Zeitouni is a professor in the Division of Dermatology at the University of Arizona. Certified by the ABD in General Dermatology and in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery, she served on the ABD Surgical Dermatology Item Writing Committee from 2020 – 2024 and was appointed to the Exam Development Council in 2026.
Dr. Motaparthi is a Clinical Professor and Vice Chair of Education at the University of Florida. Certified by the ABD in General Dermatology and Dermatopathology, he served on the Dermatopathology Item Writing Committee from 2020 – 2023, Exam Development Council since 2024 and the Focused Practice Improvement Workgroup since 2022.
