How many years does a candidate have to complete the Certification Pathway?

Candidates become eligible for the APPLIED Exam after graduating from residency and passing the 4 CORE exam modules. The APPLIED Exam has a 5-year period of eligibility that begins on the date residency training ends.  A candidate may not exceed 5 attempts to pass the APPLIED Exam.   

Examples:

A resident who graduates June 30, 2022 is considered board eligible until June 30, 2027.  This means the last opportunity to pass the APPLIED Exam, the final exam in the certification pathway, is in July 2026. 

A resident who graduates December 31, 2022, is considered board eligible until December 31, 2027.  The last opportunity to pass the APPLIED Exam is in July 2027.
