Update on Certification Exam Administration

The American Board of Dermatology (ABD) is continuing to assess the options for administering the 2020 Certification Exam, including the in-person July exam in Tampa, FL.  The ABD is investigating all available testing options that meet the health and safety standards currently in place, with a full understanding of the ongoing uncertainty around the COVID-19 epidemic.

Many American Board of Medical Specialties member boards are facing similar challenges in regard to alternative approaches to their scheduled in-person exams, and the ABD is assessing which, if any of their approaches, are both available and suitable for the ABD Certification Exam.

During this unprecedented time of uncertainty, the ABD understands your concerns and anxieties about how COVID-19 may impact your ability to take the 2020 Certification Exam. Prioritizing the health and safety of test-takers and informed and guided by public health experts, the ABD anticipates making a final decision about the scheduled July exam no later than June 8, 2020 and will communicate it as quickly as possible to those affected.

Thank you. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
