2020 Certification Exam Administration

The rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19 is creating much uncertainty. Several candidates for the ABD’s July 2020 Certification Exam in Tampa, Florida have inquired whether the exam will be administered as planned.

Ideally, the ABD will be able to administer the exam as planned, but we recognize that this may not be possible.  We will not, at this moment, take steps to cancel the July exam.

However, since your health and safety is our top priority, we are actively formulating alternate administration options, should the need arise to cancel the July exam. The alternate solutions currently under consideration include scheduling the exam later in the year and/or using a different administration vendor.

To reduce the uncertainty, we plan to inform candidates, in advance, about the alternate solution we would implement should the July exam be cancelled. Please be aware that it will take some time for the ABD to solidify this alternate plan. Exam administration vendors are facing unprecedented nationwide test center closures and their current focus is on re-accommodating exams cancelled in March and April. But as soon as we have an agreement with an exam administration vendor that can address our tentative needs, we will formulate and communicate an alternate plan to all candidates.

Please accept our best wishes for your health and safety during this challenging time. We will keep you informed as solutions evolve.
